Dazzling Diamond Ball Raises Total Revenue Over $110,000 for Older Adults and Families on the Central Coast

Wilshire Health and Community Services hosted their annual Dazzling Diamond Ball Fundraiser, made possible by presenting sponsor Marshalls Jewelers, at the Madonna Inn Expo Center this past Saturday, March 24, 2018. The murder mystery dinner, by Murder in Mind Productions, was set in 1940’s Hollywood; the Expo Center was transformed by the décor of the era and backlot scenes from iconic Old Hollywood movies.

The evening began by honoring those who have supported the work of Wilshire Health and Community services, including: Ambassador of the Year Commissioner Tim Covello, Philanthropist of the year Joan Gellert-Sargen, and Volunteers of the year Dr. Loren Acord and Patricia Acord. Each honoree received a standing ovation for their heartfelt contributions to the non-profit.

The evening continued as the murder mystery unfolded and a live auction, featuring a one-of-a-kind jewelry piece donated by Marshalls Jewelers, generated excitement in the room. The diamond bracelet, donated by Jeff McKeegan, had its own beginnings in hospice. Jeff’s first introduction to hospice was through his close friend on service many years ago. In remembrance of her, he was given the watch of his good friend when she passed. His experience with her hospice journey inspired him to get involved with Wilshire Hospice’s Dazzling Diamond Ball. Now, many years later, Jeff generously redesigned the watch into this year’s dazzling diamond piece, as a one-of-a-kind diamond bracelet. Together with the evening’s other auction items and Fund-A-Need programming, the Dazzling Diamond Ball was able to raise a total revenue of over $110,000.

Due to the generosity and support of guests and donors, the Dazzling Diamond Ball Fundraiser was able to raise critical funds for older adults and families on the Central Coast who need it the most, including services: hospice, home health, therapy, counseling, in-home supportive services and conflict resolution services.
